Skyline Scrolls

University of Edinburgh Skyline Scroll:
Awards for the University of Edinburgh Benefactors

This piece represents the changing architecture of the University from 1583 to the present day.
It is formed as an upward spiral echoing the shape of an academic scroll. The tapered shape is designed to create a sense of height and perspective reflecting the experience of looking up at a tall building.
The gilding on the inside glows through the windows, suggesting activity and learning taking place inside.
